A R T E M I S I A  V U L G A R I S / / mugwort salve. Mugwort is sacred to Diana (Artemis) – goddess of the Divine Feminine, goddess of the hunt, protector of women + young girls, wild animals + wilderness, + virginity. The more time I spend with this plant, the more I feel the strength of her spirit + protection. Mugwort is warming, spicy, and invigorating to the blood, and is used traditionally in Chinese medicine to warm the womb (it is also dried, purified, and smoldered over specific acupuncture points on the body in moxibustion therapy, or moxa). It has a powerful effect on our deep subconscious, as demonstrated in her ability to enhance our dreams. This very special salve is made from my first home-harvest, grown from organic seed.

DianaCI use this salve mainly as an alternative to NSAIDs for period pain. You can use it generally for lymph/menstrual support/womb health. Dab behind ears to support lymph circulation, or rub onto swollen glands. For arthritic pain that feels better with warmth, rub into affected joints. Use on abdomen + low back for period cramps, or apply beneath nostrils before sleep to enhance dreams. For cramps, rub generously into the painful area and allow to sink into the skin. You may need to reapply a few times before you notice the effects; once it starts working, you can reapply every half hour or as needed. To use proactively, apply it a few times a week, even on days when you aren’t bleeding, + especially in the days immediately before your bleed, to build warmth + improve blood flow. Can be used as a preventative tonic, or energetically to invoke the goddess guardianship of Diana.

INGREDIENTS: Home/organically-grown Artemisia vulgaris, harvested on the October 2015 Taurus Full Moon (according to Culpeper, mugwort is an herb of Venus, ruled by Taurus), local beeswax, + organic olive oil. Blended on the December 2015 New Moon.
